Ok i went through 3 starters, and i dont know what is wrong. I got a 99 ls stock with a act heavy duty 6 puck clutch with a 99 ls flywheel. I got a DA ls tranny dunno year. Ok so this is the problem is that it keeps on getting stuck. I try to crank but nothing happens no clicking or nothing but if i tap the solenoid on the starter it cranks. I put new grounds one on the battery 1 on chassis to battery, and 2 from motor 2 battery. What is the problem?

Advanced auto parts.... i was wondering if i put another wire to the ground looking wire to the battery so like having 2 power wire i think the power on the starter is not thick enough, but that is what i think and im not no car pro.
You ran a wire from battery neg to the starter? Do not do that. The starter grounds through the case of the starter-through the trans-through ground wire-to chassis-battery.
What gauge wire do you have running to the starter from b+?

I was initially thinking that you had some missing flywheel teeth until you mentioned that it will engage by tapping the starter. That indicates to me that the starters you're getting are bad.
Try a different supplier. Advance and AutoZone aren't well renowned for their remanufactured parts quality. I'd suggest NAPA if you have one locally. Get one of the Bosch remans, as their comeback rate is lower than the cheaper ones.

yea i will do that thanks but any other idea i dont wanna take it out again. What i said wont work? I will also check the volts it is getting. thanks peopl. And also y does no one else have problem with these starters??
About running additional cables? No.
They do, trust me. The comeback rate on the extra-cheap reman parts is much higher than average. That doesn't mean that you won't get a good one every once in a while, but I'd rather spend a little extra to fix the car right the first time than waste labor and minutes fixing it multiple times.

i'm having the exact same issue with my starters. On my second one right now and it is acting up just like my first starter did. Bought the one i have now from Kragen :/. It did come with a lifetime warranty though so i guess i'll just have to swap this one out for now.
i did have a starting problem with my car when it was cold out i dont think were u r its cold but what i did to fix it might help u, i put in a button in my car that had a wire that ran to the battery then to the starter when u press the button it would send power straight to u starter then it would turn over. when i get home from vaction i will look at it again and let u kno how i ran everything
i have the same problem with mine when its real cold out it wont start but as along as it is warm it will work every time
sometimes i have to put the car in get and rock the car back and forth to get it to work almost to get the started unstuck

But its not cold where i am. I ordered a napa starter tho i think its just the cheap brand my other starter will come in 2marrow hope it will work fine. I am also going to check my battery amperage.
it doesn't necessarily have to be extrememly cold for a battery to not provide enough amps to run the starter. Cold does exagerate the problem however, and thats why most batteries fail at the start of the winter, rather than the middle of the summer.
the older 90-93 starters look different but will function and bolt up the same as the 94 up ones. After having a problem with 2 starters I ran a separate 8ga ground right to the starter and its been fine since.
