How to change auto tranny fluid
Is there a DIY guide on how to change the transmission fluid on a 5th lude? What are the steps on changing the tranny fluid? Thorough step by step instructions are welcome. Haven't changed my fluid in 15k =/
Thanks
Thanks
if the car isn't used to the fliud being changed the shavings can be holding the tranny together, but the easiest way to change it is to drain the fluid through dropping the pan or the drain plug,(i would drop the pan and change the filter too)if you drop the pan clean it very good and clean the magnet very good also, bolt the pan back up and tighten the bolts in a criss cross pattern. put 2 to 3 quarts of fluid in the tranny start the car, shift through the gears and let the engine idle til normal operating temp and shift through the gears again. check your fluid level if in the cross hatched area drive the car a few miles, then check the fluid level again, if still in cross hatched area your good. note always check your tranny fluid with the car running at normal operating temp

yeah just ignore most of it it's not like i dont doit pretty much every day, im just a ase certified technitian, its not like i know what im talking about anyway
Things you don't know:
1. Preludes don't have pans for the transmission fluid.
2. Preludes don't have transmission fluid filters, just a screen that you can't change.
3. Put 2 to 3 quarts in? You better know exactly how much it needs before you cause more damage
4. You check the fluid level in a Prelude with the engine OFF.
This all bad advice that the OP should ignore. My assessment of your post is correct.
Being ASE certified means jack crap if you don't know the car you are working on. I personally wouldn't bring my car to you since you obviously don't know much about Preludes. Whenever I have someone work on my car I make sure they have specific experience working with preludes.
