Default battery fuse blows

its a repost but with newer info! long story short car blows my battery postive fuse off my aftermarket 80 amp (battery is relocated in trunk) everytime i crank if over as soon as the car feels like it wants to start it blows that fuse. So i swapped out starters same problem. Then i separated starters from the flywheel and just held it and put power the the car and the started turned and no fuse blew. So i was wandering if theres something in my engine restricting my starter and making it blow a fuse. Also i was thinking it was my engine harness so i swapped for another and the same problem. But ya do you guys think its possible for to much tension somewhere in the motor to stress the starter my car has ran for over 3 years with the motor all i did was swap the trans and put the engine back in, so i dont think its the trans>

Did this problem develope when you relocated the battery, or after you swapped the trans?

The starter draws a lot of current at 12 volts. A long wire run (like a relocated battery needs) increases resistance causing a voltage drop. To make up for the voltage drop the starter will draw more current, thereby causing your fuse to blow. You need to use a heavier wire gauge.

A poor connection due to corrosion or loose fitting hardware will also cause a higher resistance.

EDIT... However, the starter motor should not have an inline fuse to it. Normally the battery positive cable runs directly to it.

My battery has been relocated for over a year now and no problems. Just after I swapped trans its been blowing the 80 amp fuse. Also today I took out the motor then I unhooked the engine harness and jumped power to the starter to rotate the engine and a another 80 amp blew. Is it possible that the the trans is grounding out somewhere with the starter?

One more time, what type of fuse are you using?

If it is a 4ga power cable install a 150A fuse, and use an ANL fuse with the stud type fuse holder 94

Just to clear things up...

You aren't feeding the starter motor through the 80 amp fuse are you? That's not large enough. Are you refering to the main fuse? If it only blows while cranking the engine you've got something miswired or a pinched/chafed wire that grounds out when the engine moves. Try unplugging the alternator and see what happens.
