Default Knocking noises

i had a knocking noise and i drove it then it got worst. so i cant drive my car. its a d16z6. i took off the valve cover and smoke was coming out of the two holes to the block where the pistons are. it still starts but with a loud knocking noise. i had a scheduled valve adjusment tommorrow should i do that or could it be something else like piston rings.

tapping would be the valves, if its knocking and gets louder with more rpm then its the bottom end, rod bearing. Oil pump could've went out or something

The cheapest thing to do it drain the oil and see if you have shavings in the oil (these shavings will most likely be your spun bearing).

FYI, oil pumps rarely go out. Only time they will fail usually is if the vehicle is completely starved for oil and the pump receives no lubrication.

Most likey the OP beat on the car and spun a rod bearing, revved the **** out of it and broke a wrist pin, etc. etc. I learned my lesson about beating on a car that wasn't made to be beat on back when I was young and blew up 3 engines in 3 different ways in a matter of months.

JDM SOHC Vtec ZC is basically an identical replacement engine, the only difference being that it lacks the purge solenoid on the intake manifold, simply resuse your old IM. You could also get a JDM D15B Vtec, which is a very similar engine.

your motor is on its way out
could need a valve adjustment or you might be going as far as putting in new rods
its not worth fixing if your rods are gone
your better off buying a new motor

Just pick up another D16Z6 and put it in. They're relatively cheap to obtain.

Yeah i took the engine out but i didnt check the valves and there was a big piece of a metal shaving in the oil pan. Plus alot of little shavings and one piston rod was black. there are some motors at the junkyards like a b20 f22 and d15's. but they are core motors are they any good? the thing is, is that they dont know whats wrong with the engines. Is HMO a good place to get a motor?or what would be a good place online?
