Default Home made transponder?

Ultimate Electronics said that the installers can make an immobilizer bypass instead of using a transponder for a remote starter. Does any one know if this is actually possible? I asked the inside sales person how they do it, and all I was told is that the installer used a relay and did something with wrapping some wires. I think this sounds crazy, but if it eliminates a transponder, then thats cool.

what they do is wrap some wire around one of your 3 keys and that feeds into a relay. when the relay is activated by a remote start or whatever application you are interested in. the wires come out of the relay and wrap around your key cylinder. its a ghetto way of getting around the transponder. there are bypasses available that simply copy ur key. Fortin is one company that makes the bypass
