My car only remote starts sometimes. The grounds seem to be fine when inspecting them and I even try with a Duralast jump starter hooked up to the battery(fully charged, 12 hours). When starting with the key it works fine. When remote starting, the purple starter wire only gets like 7.9v. The relay pack is receiving 11.94v when cranking, and all 3 wires are bridged together.

My main question is, how can I reset the brain and/or relay pack to original settings?

 

The starter relay in the relay satellite has gone west, you can not "reset" it, it must be replaced.

I agree. They are known to fail. You can grab (-) signal off the ribbon cable and wire up an external relay, best to just replace the unit as fcm mentioned, thought I'd mention the relay trick if you dont have access to a replacement.

There are a few fixes, best/easiest way is to replace the relay satellite, next would be to rewire and use the relay not being used on your 97, [pink/white 2nd ign. output], disconnect the starter leads, [purple and green], install a relay on the starter lead, switch side to #30 on relay and starter side to #87a on relay, you will need to also connect the pink/white to #87a of relay and a 12v+ true ign. source to #85 of relay and the orange H1/12 to #86 of relay.

The above will keep starter disable, [added relay].

Last but not least, you must repin the pink/white and purple leads in the ribbon cable, swap them.

As mentioned you can just use an off board relay and control it with the purple lead in the ribbon cable.

One other option is to open the relay satellite and swap the starter relay with the unused 2nd ign. relay, a much "cleaner" way to go. 94
