it will help be loud. but thats about it. u will lose all of the torque. and u dont have much to spare as it is. but u might as well test it for yourself and find out.

well, if unbolting you cat, makes you lose hp(unless you're going FI), wouldnt unbolding your headers lose it too? + it'll be louder than those 8 bangers hehe

From what I understand...to make low end torque you NEED backpressure! No back pressure = no low end power....BUT what you gain is high end horsepower. I experienced this with my V6 Ford Contour. I got rid of the main cat and bolted on a SVT Duel exhaust. High end HP went through the roof but low end torque was nowhere to be found. I also LOST about 5 MPG with that combo.

by the way JCWhitney.com has the same item...24JE1628R....$19.99+shipping.

Dyno's can lie. Check and look at what rpm those numbers come from. The large numbers are found near red line.

yep, loss of back pressure doesn't cause loss of torque, you don't want back pressure, but you want to maintain velocity, which creates optimal gains on hp and torque scales, yeah check out the SCC B16 Civic Project car, they ran no exhaust and saw gains, you might also want to look through previous issues in the "Performance Dictionary" page they had a previous article on exhausts.

I have run both. And you loose MAD bottom end running open header, but gain some serious top end... With the open headers the car is a snail untill I hit 6k-8k then it screams.

thank you
when i ran an open header on my d15 is sounded great (loud as **** tho) and had MORE hp and trq. lost no low end at all. now im header back no cat, quieter and slightly slower. backpressure is BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD in ANY case. proper flow is GOOD GOOD GOOD

the owner of this crx before me replaced the stock muffler with a midas special, it has one tip, and honestly my dick has more circumfrence then the pipe coming off the muffler, my car with the b16 was super slow. currently what im doing is running the car with the rear section unbolted, i have kept the muffler hanging to fool the popos, but its not connected, i have seen a big diffrence in power on the highway and on the track, i think it might feel a lil bit slower if im just doing regular driving, but if i mash the gas then its all good again.

someone buy me an exhaust system so i dont get a ticket :D

They weren't running 'no exhaust' they were running a JG Edelbrock Race Header, which is a header with a small dump tube coming off the end - check the pics.

You'll definitely run faster open header, but it's loud - ear-bleeding loud. Remember that sound clip I posted with my car running basically open header? Here it is again: Crappy sound quality
