quick throttle body spacer question
ok so i researched about these things and ive been hearing that they create a whistling sound as well.
is that true?
and also from experience has anyone ran into problems with having enough room for a sri with tbs?

umm it only makes a whistling noise when there is a leak hahaha
im a perfect example of what you are talking about. i will post pics of my setup tomorrow morning cuz its obviously 2 in the morning and im very tired. but fitment is fine, but the mount near the filter doesnt line up. you'l see what i mean when i post pics tomorrow.

Most spacers will create a whistle some vehicles will be more pronounced than others. The previous Install we did with the Sri is tight, but manageable.
Okay because I am planning to do a fujita sri soon and just wanted to know if I had enough clearance as well thanks for the help

a bigger throttle body will create a whistle. my b16 did with a jdm b18c5 throttle body on it but i haven't heard it on a car with a spacer on it

well i was changing my oil earlier and i just remembered to take pics so i did. also i have the injen sri. but the following pics will show how off the top bracket is.

also i would like to say for those that plan on buying an injen sri. you do not have to bypas your throttle body as the instructions say. you can just disconnect the air breathers and connect it to the intake. its very smart since its winter and u dont want to freeze your throttle body. the following pics will illustrate what im saying.
notice the breather off the valve cover fits perfectly fine to the larger port on the intake. i used the stock hose clamps which work fine.

also notice that the breather from the t-joint fits fine on the smaller port on the intake, but its longer than necessary so the hose will make a s shape, but its not so much of an s that air will not be able to pass through.

also, with the injen sri and tbs combo, i couldnt get the intake to fit well unless i removed the bracket for the wiring harness thats right under the power steering. but other than that, its perfectly fine and i've had no problems.

It all depends on your setup and what spacer you get. Mine whistled on my CD5 but it wasn't loud enough to be annoying. And it wasn't caused by a leak. It's a combination of the swirl type helix throttle body spacer and a 3" SRI that acts like a megaphone.

Some throttle body spacers whistle at certain throttle positions in combination with the "Helix" swirl thats built into them. Theoretically they are supposed to spin the air thats coming in and create a vortex or whatever...Why are people using these? Serious question. I had one back in the day and so did a couple friends, zero results.
I liked the whistle...lol but other than that you are 100% about the no gain. Other than adding a 71cc increase in plenum volume, that may have lowered the torque curve an unnoticeable amount.
Which leaves me with the same question, why are people using and buying these? I can understand the ones that dont have the Helix feature yet have vacuum nipples. Has anyone ever even dynod these?
I bought mine 4 years ago to see if it would do anything..... and it didn't. Anyone who does a search on them now should very quickly find out that they do absolutely nothing. It's not like putting a 2" carb spacer on your grand fathers SBC. Those actually do help.
the helix spacer whistles some what due to the "vortex" type effect it creates. it really is a bad design because it reduces the area of air flow when you add this spacer..
I put a spacer on my 2008 SI and got 832,345 whp out of it. Only problem is I burn through too much gas now. Fricken spacer...
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THROTTLE BODY SPACERS! They only work sometimes, but not on our little ol Civics.
