Default gauge cluster stop working

hey i got a 89 honda crx si and i need to figure what went bad on my car. i was leaving the bar the other night and i had been having problems in the past with my turn signal switch sticking and not always wanting to light up in the down position only unless i shook it around a little but this would rarely happen. so anyway's im leaving the bar i go to signal and nothing both way's up and down then i noticed my whole gauge cluter isn't working excepct the speedometer. tach, temp and fuel gauge were all down and not working. the cluster lights was working still but nothing else except the speedometer. do yall think my cluster just all of a sudden went bad and i need to get a different one or could it be something else.

Check the fuse, then the plug on the back of the cluster, if you have a multimeter or test light you can check for power to the gauges at the plug(s) probably a yellow lead, [sorry do not have an 89 CRX wire schematic]. 94

No fuse????
All 12V+ wiring in your car has a fuse, the fuse may protect more then just the gauges, but there is a fuse.

Pull the cluster and test for power at the cluster plug(s). 94

would really like to see this one get figured out... i have a 91 with a b18a and the exact same problem i have been searching for about 3 weeks and still can not find the problem i have checked every wire for burns and corrosion also changed the gauge cluster and ecu... only difference is when mine went out i lost everything and my car died thought i had a bad altenator because everything slowly went off and sputered and quit.. changed the battery and the only thing working is the spedo ( of course because of the fact that it is a cable spedo, and the battery light... and the acctually lights that light it up... the fuel gause just started working but it is intermitten, still no other lights or gauges working.... i have been surviving on a oil pres gauge and a water temp gauge both after market on the pillar, would really like for it all to work again... i have unpluged everything and even pulled my dash... nothing... if anyone knows how to get rid of this gremlin that would be great...

Have you checked for power to the cluster at the cluster plug? 94

Come on guys, TEST FOR POWER at the cluster plug(s), you can use a $3 test light, Look for lead that has 12V+ when ign switch is in the run position, or engine running.

You will not find the problem without starting with this most basic test.

If cluster lights is the problem, check for power at the cluster plug(s) red/black lead when park/head lights are on, there should also be a ground, [variable] on a red lead, continuity will change as you turn the "Dash Lights Brightness Controller". 94

Fixed!

Problem: all gauges stopped working except for the Speedometer plus turning signals stopped working. what still worked was the High beams, dimmer, head lights.
( my car is a CRX '90 SI )

Solution: check the fuse box for the car ( the fuse box that is right under the steering column). Check the fuses.

Apparently, if one of the fuses is burned out then the rest of the cluster stops working. For my case, it was the signal fuse. The signal fuse was the only fuse that burned out. I replaced it, turned on my car and wa-la. Everything is back to normal and working properly!

I hope this helps you guys out there.

sensor or gauge issue. or maybe a heavy wiring fault. try using AutoMeter gauges as it is accurate and durable
