Default A lil' help SOHC Greddy people ... Or just turbo people

I got my turbo installed about two weeks ago. Everything ran fine, nothing out of the ordinary besides power. At WOT I hit "FULL" boost (5psi) at 3,500rpms or so Then one day I decide to give her a lil gas. Then something changed and my boost guage reads only 3psi, 4 and sometimes 5 but only at 6,000+ rpms. At first I thought it might be a loose charge pipe. The one directly off the turbo looked a tad loose. So I tightened it up and everything looks fine. Still cant get up to 5 reasonably. Any thoughts? I still have the stock internal wastegate haven't changed any settings. Stock "blue box" seems to run fine. Nothing has changed on my car but, the boost just doesnt seem to get to the manifold. It was working fine... now its not. Argh ... Thanks.

i would double check all of your vacuum lines, esp. the one coming off of the wastegate to the intake mani.

Sometimes mine doesn't reach full boost as quickly in the hot weather. Also, when I first installed the BOV, i was loosing a lot of pressure until I adjusted it correctly.

Went out and checked it again. All the Charge pipes seem snug and fit. The vacuum lines seem to be in order as well. On another run I was able to hit 5 psi in 2nd without to much effort. 1st gear however refuses to go past 2. I hit 2 psi at about 3,500rpms and it sits at 2psi all the way up to 7,000rpms. Anymore thoughts???

look for a weak link in the charge pipes, that could be the most likely culprit, i used to have a very weak charge pipe and i replaced it with a quality one and i get too much psi now

I agree. I boosted my sohc to 9 psi last night and blew the vacuum tube off that connects the V-TEC solinoid to the intake manifold. Please use hose clamps! Don't make the same mistake I did.

did you check your line to the boost gauge? Maybe it's kinked a little or has a slight leak in it. Try another line to it. Does it feel like your loosing boost or does it still seem as fast as it was?

Hey Nick, Does it feel any slower? I know the guage is pretty Ghetto-rigged, could be a mis-reading, but I am assuming you would notice if you are not getting "full" boost. I will be up late monday night after work, we can check it out on tuesday before my appointment. You tightened the one that looked loose? You know it's just some simple B.S.... What about the connection just below the turbo outlet, the one shrouded by heatwrap? That had a bend and a coupler. If boost were to leak, it'd probably be there.

Bah... I checked all the charge pipes, one feels a little loose. The one coming from the intercooler to the throttle body has a little ... a very little play to it. The connection is in the hole where a cold air intake would go and thus hard to get to especially when its only a hunch. But why am I able to boost fully in 2nd gear but not first? Yeah we can check it out tuesday I guess ill have to wait till then Thanks for the advice all
