4-2-1 header d16a6, please read!
I have a question. I'm planning to install a 4-2-1 header on my D16A6 civic, and want to know do I have to put some kind of a mount (cause the original header is supported by a mount under the engine block, and I don't have that mount on my new 4-2-1 header). If I just take the stock header off, and screw the 4-2-1 on the engine, would that be OK, or must I make some kind of a mount on the 2 in 1 part (lower part of the header, under the block) to support it. Help.
Well I can tell you from my experience that you don't need that mount. Mine fits tightly to the mount but it doesn't rub it.
It's been on the car for about three years w/o any troubles.
I do suggest a new donut gasket between the header and the cat because this gasket is where the exhaust system flexes, and you won't want to take it apart again. Unless you have a flex pipe already installed.

the rear exhaust manifold mount is a strip of metal that attaches to the back of the block along with the intake manifold mount and hangs down.
ive used an aftermarket exhaust manifold without bolting that one up as well with no big issues. but it does theoretically help not stress out the head. its just not been a direct problem tho.
