I just got my setup back together after over-revving the head, same exact setup running on the same tune. For some reason cyl 2 and 3 are running richer than cyl 1 and 4. The plugs look perfect on cyl 1 and 4 but after a few pulls down the road and checking the plugs cyl 2 and 3 are black and the car wants to miss. I've gone thru 3 sets of the same plugs and the problem still occurs. After changing the plugs the car runs perfect until the plugs load up. Tried changing the gap and swapped out anoter oem fpr and same results. What could cause cyl 2 and 3 to be running richer?

Swapped out injectors and cyl 2 and 3 and same results... Is there a way to check the ignition voltage through the plug wires?

same thing happened to me, it took me FOREVER to figure it out, my ICM (ignition control module) quit in my dizzy, i replaced it and it was still a little iffy..

so i just bought a remanned dizzy and never the same problem!

 

well before i swap out the dizzy how can i check it to make sure thats the issue?

 

Borrow a dizzy from a friend or something. No really good way to check other than to try and check timing with a timing light on a dyno.

 

take ur icm out (bolted in by threaded screws) and take it to o'reillys and test it vigoriously for about 10 minutes.. let it heat up and wait to see if it fails.

it would be much simpler if u just got a new dizzy, borrow one from a friend!

 

you could check to see how strong the spark is comared to 1&4, are they black, or fuel saturated?

 

i'll have to post up a pic of the plugs. There a flat black color, the tip is even black

 

what power level? maybe 8's are too cold causing them to foul. doesnt really explain only 2&3 but still something to think about

when mine was crapping out i was spark knocking/pinging in my 2&3 cylinders too.
it was ONLY those cylinders that had detonation marks... i wouldn't be surprised if yours had them too.
