Default H22 into A20

im posting here because there isnt an 86-89 Accord section, (that i could find) there is a perfect teal LX-I shell up the street from my house that i am thinking about buying. it has pw windows/locks/mirrors, sunroof, tint. its very nice. it has no wheels the engine/trans removed for another car, and i believe the hood is gone too, its not on the car, but they may have it.
anyway i was thinking about buying it to swap in an H22 or something. what i want to know is, what would it take? how different are the mounts and things??

im still pretty new at this, most i have ever done was help a friend swap a JDM B16 into his 91 SI hatch, also helped him install a D16 into an empty 89 shell... and i have replaced a couple trans in Saturns.. but as for switching from one motor to another, im not very familiar with

also would this be a good swap? is there an easier swap?? maybe a B16/18, D16Z6/Y8, F22... or should i just get a good PGM-FI A20??

any help would be much appreciated.. i also have vast access to several F22 CB7/9 accords, and a couple first gen Integras... a complete engine and trans at my local yard is $130... they have i think about 8 or 9 90-93 accords, coupes and sedans, maybe 3 Integras, and a C27 Legend (yeah right) there are two 2gen tegs, but they are pretty much stripped...

IIRC those year accords came with a B series engine? And the B series is a better suited swap.

Probably best to ask the guys on like 3geez or whatever that site is.

Give up on that car. No mount kits, except a SUPER rare Placeracing kit for B series. Only one left that a member of 3geez had, last I heard.

Anything for that car is gonna be custom. There are JDM B20A for that car with 160 HP, but finding one is super hard, and its even harder to find a manual tranny for it, since most CA5 Accord 2.0Si were auto.

So, overall, I'd forget about it.

And BTW, 3Geez was the first forum I joined in 2001. So, I kinda know about this stuff.

D16A1.

DOHC PGM-FI 118 HP.

Its a weak engine, and the only car it will swap into is the 84-87 Civic or CRX Si.

i guess the name fits!! lol i may just get it and put an A20 back in it with a 5-spd... i have always wanted one, and if i can get the shell cheap enough, i will just do it stock. it will be a nice DD to save my Legend!

thanx for the info though!!

A friend of mine in HS had a MINT Accord with only 50k on the clock. I guess I'm just a child of the 80's, but I thought it was a great looking car.

I think they look good as well. If I could swap one, it'd be a great oldschool ride.

400+ HP GSR turbo last I heard.

And for the original question of thread; it has been done;

i actually could have bought a nice 87 hatch LX-I 5-spd a while back for lie $100 it had some minor rust, and the engine overheated. and i would have bought it if i had the money.. but i had just got my Legend... anyway if i can find a decent motor i may just buy it for a DD like i said... is there really much i can do with the stock motor? and i dropped by 3geez and saw some fixed lights with a DOHC i think it was A18A?? is that a JDM motor or something? cause as far as i knew they only had A20 here.. but i could be very wrong. i just know my friend has an 89 coupe and its got an A20

Other than universal mods (intake, ignition) you cant really do much with an A20. There are like 5 DC headers, and Pacesetter ones that crack. Any built ones are gonna be custom jobs.

Fixed headlight are called "Accord CA/Civic Accord" according to Japanese literature. "Accord CA" is the model name, seperate the fact that the chassis is the CA5.

There are 2 DOHC motors, the B20A which is fuel injection, and the B18A, which is carbed. Neither are compatible with Integra/Civic B series. Mounts, tranny, nothing.

so Honda made two B18A?? because the DA/DB1 Integra had B18A1... i had one.. or is it just with the USDM cars?? because from what i know, the JDM gen2 Integra had SOHC with the lower models and a DOHC B16 with the XSI..... i have no idea. there are so many differences in JDM to USDM Hondas its not even funny... just like they had an Accord Vigor.... then what we know as a Vigor is a Honda Accord Inspire.... its just so confusing...

so what do you think i should do?? if i do buy the car, what is the best thing to do with it just to be a DD... not a race car or anything, thats my Legend , should i just keep it stock with maybe upgraded plugs/wires, CAI, high flow cat, muffler and pretty much keep it stock from there?

yes the H22 will fit but barely as a member on a prelude site had a turbo H22a in a 84 prelude and the 2nd gen prelude's engine bay is very close to the 3g accord's of course theres no mount kits for these cars so the mounts have to be made but yes it does fit just have to find someone to do the mounts or DIY...
