Default can i still hook up an alarm even though my electrics locks dont work

i have a 95 accord lx 2dr. i recently bought a CODE alarm and i want to put it in my car but my electric door locks are not working properly. i can manually lock them, the passenger lock i just push it to lock it but the drivers side i have to pull the handle and then lock it. also when i push my lock button my doors do not lock and i hear a noise coming from the passengers door. what could be the problem, should i just get new locks, and what about my alarm do i need to figure out my locking situation before i go hooking up the alarm?thank you

My first gut (and I do have a gut) response is to condem the Driver's door Lock Actuator. It incorporates the micro-switches which signal the lock module to control the whole system. Sounds like someone in the past attacked the lock mechanism with a slim-jim; trying to open the door without a key - and caught something they shouldn't have.

Without the locks functioning (particularly the driver's door) the alarm will not disarm with the key. You would forever be DOOMED (DOOMED I SAY!) to using the remote fob to arm/disarm the alarm.

Well first if you have a aftermarket alarm it won't arm or disarm with the key. You can unplug the factory lock motor and add a acurator in place of it. The micro switch is in the key cylinder. So your okay with that. You can go ahead and add your alarm and be good to go with out the door locks not working. You just will not have keyless entry.

Not entirely true. My Diverse Electronics Viper Alarm is wired to work in conjunction with the OEM keyless remote system on my SE. It can be armed/disarmed by either the remote or the key. It's wired to the lock control module bypassing the OEM keyless reciever. The same would apply to any Accord with power locks, regardless of the presence of the KRS.

true true!!! I have a viper alarm hooked up to my 94 accord EX and it works both ways.. But for awhile now I am having the exact same problem as khronicboy420.. Same situation on both doors. But yes its def the lock actuator.
khronicboy420 if you just lock all your doors manually then arm the alarm it will still protect your car from bein stolen so its still an alarm. But its just not gonna work as keyless entry. Which I currently dont have neither. But no keyless entry is better then no alarm period so just install it and manually lock until you get the locks fixed.

It's never stupid to ask, and seldom costs anything. Glad we could help clarify a few things.

Happy Holidays

94-97 Accord LX 2dr Door Lock Detail:

If your driver's door doesn't respond but the other's do, you need # 8 (Left side)
