H22a smog-replacing vacuum tank under manifold
Hi I have an H22a 93 civic
I just bought a used intake control vacuum tank/solenoid ..(illustration -A-)
but don't have the IAB vacuum tank/solenoid..(illustration -B-)
question: Do you think I can use the -A- tank/solenoid in place of the -B- tank/solenoid ?
question: Pass inspection?
question: would the system even work the same as the other?
please don't tell me just to buy the iab tank/solenoid..thats obvious
I would like to mount the -A- tank under the intake manifold where the -B- tank is so supposed to be mounted.

for one it illustration a has 2 hoses coming off it and illustration 2 has 4 , two it wont bolt on and if its hanging the ref will probably complain, but is your talking about just swapping the solenoids and not the tank itself yes it will work
hm, thats right you smogged your h22 civic too. Ya looks like 4 hoses on B and 3 hoses on A .. and yes I would want to use the tank and solenoid and mount them under the manifold where the inspector cannot see. I actually have the -A- in place of the -B- right now and hooked up the way the service manual says. im gonna think about it.
Ya I can see there are 2 hoses on A and only 1 on tank B. ugh
But i think I'll still mount it under where nobody can see it and hook up the solenoid.
I think It will pass just fine as long as I cant view it.

it might pass because the iab's dont activate unlit higher rpms and the smog test is only a 15mph and a 30mph one so the iab's shouldnt code if its plugged in
