I've found a useful diagram and I know what wires to tap, however when I look at the ignition and starter wires, they are almost a 10gauge wire (real thick). I've tried using blue t-taps, but it doesn't seem to suffice as a connection. I don't want to expose the wire and solder to it, but I need to make the connection. Any ideas?

 

soldering is your only option.

just solder it and use a shrink tube
