d16y5 turbo? help yeah?

Default d16y5 turbo? help yeah?

is it safe to run a 6 psi turbonetics turbo kit on the d16y5 engine? completely stock still needs a compression test and im running on 260k miles smoothly. its a 98 civic hx, pretty much stock.

if the eninge it good shape i dont see why not. but dont expect anything awesome out of it. especially if you have the HX trans still. you will get more of a kick out of an EX trans then you would out of a turbo.

ya hes right. that HX trans is fkn super wide lol.

aite thanks haha i could also say good bye to that great gas mileage, so i should pick up an ex trans then turbo it?

well it depends on how you drive it and what size downpipe you go with. If you get a setup that lets your turbo spool @ 4k then ur daily gas mileage will be fine (provided you dont ride the gas lol). But you will definitately need a shorter tranny. An EX should be fine, but if you plan to run alot of boost get a DX tranny for its wider gears.
