Default pipe fittings; an, npt????

what does it mean? also what size is the autometer fp gauge fitting. is it a 4an.

NPT stands for National Pipe Thread.

AN in -4 AN stands for Air force/Navy. AN is another interesting thread. Back in the days, military thought that the hardware that the normal people use were junks(alot of them still are). And AN bolts are under their specs. For more info, read Carroll smith's "Nuts, Bolts and Plumbing Handbook".
