Default Down pipe fabrication obstacle

About to fabricate 3" down pipe for my Garret T3/T4 57 trim 63a/r turbo but think there might be a problem. The flange is 2.5" and the piping is 3", if I we weld the pipe onto the flange its going to be difficult to fit screws or bolts onto the fitting holes as the pipe is too close to the edges.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to overcome this !!!

heat the pipe with a torch, and dent it a bit with a ball peenn hammer to clear the bolt heads, then shave the surface flat again

why not use a 2.5" to 3" cone, should give you alot more clearance around the bolts, and will match up perfectly with the outlet flange

You can also buy Allen Head Bolts so that you dont have to slip a socket of wrench around the bolts, you tighten them from the middle..... that is what I did, I only had to dent one spot to get a bolt in.

If he is using a ramhorn there is no room for a cone increaser, you would have to weld the pipe back past 90 deg just to get under the oil pan if you could fit it past the slave cyl in the first place.

Get a 2.5" pipe and have a exhaust shop stretch it to 3". It makes a quick transition in maby less then a half inch.

This is the only pic I have of mine.

Use Allen head bolts and indent it, it'll be fine without a flare/cone. Just be sure you center the pipe on the flange. (you can do it without indenting it as well, but the allen bolts are a must)

try putting the flange in a vise, put the allen bolts in the flange holes, put the 3" downpipe on the flange, center it and tack.
you can buy the bolta at a hardware store..ie ace, home depot, lowes
