i have a Carsounds 94006 cat and i think it is about to give... I was driving about 100 mph, and then let go of the gass as i exit, and i hear a rattling sound like marbles against metal... How do i tell if it is broken? there is no CEL nor rattles during normal driving... any input would help... thanks...

 

use a rubber malot and tap the cat or use some hard object and lightly tap at it. if it rattles then it is bad.

well, take a stick and poke it. if it starts crying out "meow, meow, meow" in successive quick intervals, most likely your cat is broken

oh that noise, that is just the main shaft in your tranny about to snap. And that sounds like it has elevated to the next level where it shears the splines off of the mainshaft and inside the flywheel, thus locking your pressure plate and grinding the clutch-springs into your flywheel and probably damaging your crankshaft. I wouldn't worry about your cat now, you have bigger problems. j/k really, as with any dead cat, get a stick and poke at it.
sometimes you can kill a cat if you just poke it enough.

i've heard very bad things about the carsound cats, they give out after only a couple thousand of miles. go with random technology.
