Default ok this is killing me

ok i just bought this car and the stamp says d16z6 but it dont look like its the v-tec engine when you look at the valve cover....and when driving nothing happens while in the higher rpms...can you tell me what this is

sohc's vtec's suck and you wont feel the vtec crossover

so is it v-tec or not??? and why doesnt it say it on the valve cover like my moms 95 did...mines a 93

that was the valve cover style in 93...it is vtec...one good way of telling is most vtec engines have the spark plugs located in the front of the engine like yours is

d16z6 is a vtec and in 93 and 94 there was no stamped vtec valve cover like in 95

Some valve cover don't have the vtec logo on it. I'm pretty sure your engine has vtec, just swap a different valve cover on it that says vtec on it.

but another way of telling if it's vtec if you look for the vtec solenoid, that is underneath the valve cover breather tube. and you wont feel vtec in a sohc.

i can feel my crossover on my soch y8, not like is fast or anything, but im just sayin u sometimes can feel it and hear it.

x2 there should be a solenoid there. if it aint there which i couldnt see from the pics then i dont believe you have vtec.

my vtec crossover kicks in pretty hard at 5,500
its a d16y8 port and polished, but yea your motor is a vtec, your not going to get much out of that, maybe a slite change in the intake noise.

when my car had the y8 motor in it the only time I could sense vtec happaning was by sound...I had a SRI and it would yelp pretty good at 5500...but deff no feel...now with the b18c1 though it has a lil feel to it

just check to see if you have the V-tech solenoid which i see in the back of your cover....




u see.... but yeah u wont feel it.... D series are weak wit that Vtech.... no offense or anything cause i have a D myself but no Vtech just a lil BOOST!!!! hehehe... then u can feel it

It's a D16Z6.

'92-'93 D16Z6s don't say VTEC on them, '94-'95 D16Z6s do say VTEC on them.

They all have VTEC.

VTEC is not like a turbo. VTEC will not throw you back in your seat. You might hear a slight tone difference if you turn the radio and A/C off, roll up the windows and don't make a sound.
