Default someone please help

i just bought a 92 honda civic si hatch...i thought it was supposed to be a vtec but it doesnt say vtec on the engine..and this is supposedly the original engine..could someone please help on where on the engine i can find the code??? thanks

a friend of mine has the same year/model and his isnt vtec. the engine number is on the front of the block

my brother bought a 92 hatch one time and the valve cover didn't say vtec but it was look for a vtec selenoid on the left side of valve cover. also i think on those models the spark plugs are put in on the exhaust side of the valve cover and non vtec are put in by the intake manifold side.

92's didn't say vtec on the valve cover just look at the engine code it should say d16z6

92-93 doesnt say vtec on valve cover only 94-95 models

thanks alot...IVE GOT VTEC now for the next question...rebuild or motor swap...the engine has over 200k on it..what do you all think i should do? and how much do u think a rebiuld would be?

Rebuild with low compression pistons, good set of rods, bearings the whole deal... Then boost

ya..well i was thinking of rebuilding but then i thought about getting a b16a2 i really cant decide big decision. what ya think. again im new to this whole car mod scene thats y im asking all the questions. as i really dont know much about cars but im learning

So, you're saying he has an Si without a d16z6? He got screwed.

it should be a vtec with a solinoid on the upoper laft corner end of the valve cover but then again it has been so long since I have actully look at that motor with all these swaps that I have seen but I could stand corrected

when rebuilding a motor 1st reason is way blown motor a just for reasons of rebuild-writeback
