Default failed theft attempt x2---need some advice

someone tried to steal my car at Rutgers University in New Jersey right outside my dorm room last night. luckily my security stopped them from actually taking the car. this is the 2nd time in 2 months, but this time the thief caused some major damage. stole my cluster and shift ****. my question is...i actually got my car to start even though i don't have a cluster and i was wondering if it was safe to drive? School ends in a couple days and i would like to drive my car home instead of paying and getting it towed. My other question is what other type of security should i get ontop of my kill-switch? the problem for me now is damages once they get inside my car, so i was wondering of a 2-way pager or if there's anything better out there just so i could try to atleast catch them in the act

here's the picture of the damages attached to this post.

thanks for the replies.

I have a clifford 2 way and love the piece of mind it gives me. Keep in mind though if they want it bad enough they will take it. It looks like some retarted *** kid broke into your car though. Sorry about your luck man... Oh and yeah you should be fine to drive without a cluster just watch your speed and get a shift ****...

Best thing you can do is add a dei 520t back up battery and relocate the siren in the engine bay. So if they kill the battery the alarm will stil be going off and they can't cut the siren. But this will only work if the alarm is installed correctly. Read this and make a post in the a/s/v. We have some great security installers that deal with this everyday and we can lead you in the right directions with knowledge facts on what works and not.

id say it would be okay to drive, but the hardest thing will be knowing your speed/fuel consumption...depending on how far youre going, fuel level may not be an issue, but knowing the speed will defly be a concern no matter where you go...i wonder what a cop would say if he pulled you over...

Just follow the traffic when you're going home.

I would make sure to get a University police report in case you do get pulled over.

I know the police at my school will give out reports, b/c I've had hem give me one before when I got into an accident.

Edit: 700th post! woohoo

as said, it will be fine without a cluster, just watch your speed, though if you do get pulled, least you wont be lying about not knowing what speed your doing!!

as for security, get and aftermarket wheel with a detachable boss, with no steering wheel, there not going to bother trying to steal it!, how ddi they break in BTW, window or busting the locks?

Viper 2-way ftw.

I'm pretty sure the blue light in my car alone has stoppe theives a couple of times, my hatch got broken into 4 times before I was smart enough to get my alarm, and I haven't had any trouble since then.

he said it. having the blue light is like you car is flicking them and they cant do **** about it, unless they really want your car, but that goes to a whole new story.

about the cluster you can drive it home no worries. my bro drives with no speed daily.
