Default Speedometer not working

The darn Speedometer works only occasionally in my 1994 EX.
What do you folks think is the most likely culprit?

If you do NOT have any associated Warning lamps staring back at you (like either the "Check Engine" or a flashing D4 (auto only), it will (most likely) be the Speedo Cluster. Second on the list would be a wiring issue if the dash had been worked on previously.

AHHHH!!!!! I gotcha. Well there is no lights lit except for the ABS. (still trying to figure that one out. But Im not sure if the check engine light is even working. Could have been removed or just burned out. Hmmmmm.... looks like either way, taking apart the dash to get at the cluster is a must! I hope its just a loose connection.

If its the speedo what goes wrong with them?

This car needs sooooo much work. I already replaced the wiring harness for the headlights, got a new windshield wiper fluid pump, replaced all the tires, put in a new battery, replaced the wipers, painted the rear quarter panels with anti-rust stuff and of course gave it a oil change.

It still needs:
  • passenger airbag
  • ABS fixed (no idea whats wrong with it)
  • Speedo fixed (no clue either)
  • dash lights replaced
  • glass pack muffler replaced with normal one
  • both tail lights replaced with stock ones

Check that there's sufficient brake fluid in the Master Cylinder reservoir. There's a level sensor in there which trips the light if the fluid gets too low. still trying to figure that one out. But Im not sure if the check engine light is even working.
Turning the key to the run position should cycle the CEL on for confirmation that it's working

Verify that the "Check Engine Lamp" comes on briefly while you're starting the car. Also check the brake fluid level and see if you've the ABS issue resolved.
Let me know what you find.
