probably a bad cluster. I'd just say get another. my old 95 EX 2 door had the same problem. My Speedo, odo, and trip odo would all go out together. Some times a good whack to the dash would fix it. Most of the time it didn't. I bought an LX cluster to replace it and never had a problem out of it. Speedo worked all the time.
Everything else in the original cluster worked fine except for the temp gauge which would always max out but would never go all the way down when the car was turned off. The new cluster's temp gauge worked fine.
