can someone verify the rules when moving battery to the rear.. i have a optima.. does it need to be in a box?? and i have to have a switch out back of car right??

 

Have to have a box and a switch to be track legal.

 

We made a firewall in the trunk of my Subaru behind the back seat because I really didn't have much room in the trunk for a battery box. The NHRA rulebook has all of this stuff in it. If you don't use a box you need a firewall, if you don't have a firewall you need a box, I'm sure both would be fine too.....

 

the switch has to shut the car off when it is running

 

you still need a switch if you move it anywhere right ? (example in the wheel wells)

 

I called NHRA Div1 tech last week about moving it elsewhere in the front of the vehicle. Their answer was that as long as it was forward of the firewall it did not need a cutoff switch.

Cut-off switch is required 9.99 and faster or 135mph and faster.
