Default Opinions on LS swapped EG transmission options

I just wanted to get people's opinions or experiences on here. I have a 92 SI EG with and OBDII USDM LS motor. Car weighed 2140 with the D and me not in it. I dont know what it weighs now. I would assume about 80-100 more. Anyways, Here is my question.

Does a Vtec tranny help much on a bolt on LS ? By this I mean GSR, B16Si etc. transmissions. I just didnt know if the gear ratio differences would matter THAT much. I have heard it is worth about .4 in the quarter mile but that sounds a bit optimistic to me. If I had to say I think my car runs about a 14.9 or so as it sits. The only reason I say this is because I couldnt imagine it running 14.4-14.5 on a nearly stock LS swap. Is it worth the 400 bux or so ?

If your going to upgrade your transmission I'd recommend getting one with a LSD and making it worth the money.

I can't say how much a B16, GSR, or ITR tranny will improve your 1/4 mile times but they are all supposed to have better gearing that the LS. So yes, it should improve your 1/4 mile time but not sure by how much.

Its a tough situation. I have an LS swap in my coupe with an LS transmission, My cousin has an LS swap in his hatch and he has a b16 tranny. From a dig he nails me off the line and we hold the whole way. From a roll I walk him HARD in 3rd gear. The LS transmission is built for the LS powerband. That is what I believe. It depends on the situation really. If we both went LS/Vtec and kept the same transmission, he would kill me everytime because the his gears are shorter; he can stay in his powerband. The LS powerband is more down low wear as a vtec motor has powerband up top.

I think the gsr granny is perfect for the LS. I had a b16 tranny on my stock LS and the gearing was just too short, any highway driving sucked.
