Default Starter Problem?

1997 SH

Heres my situation:

1.) Car would not start
2.) Changed positive battery terminal due to corrision and stripped bolt (Did not solve problem)
3.) Checked battery at autozone and came out a "good battery"
4.) Headlights, horn, internal instrument lights work perfectly fine

My car had a "single click" when I would try to start the car and would not crank..
THEN
The click went away and there is no sound and still will not crank over

I am assuming its the starter because if the alternator was bad then the battery would've been low. Someone correct me if im wrong. I just want to make sure there isnt anything else I should do before I take it all apart.

Thanks guys!

Just push-start the car and see what happens.

smack the starter solinoid with a hammer (preferably a rubber mallet) while someone is trying to start it. Your solinoid could be sticking which sends power to your starter (gear motor) to mechanically spin your fly wheel ( I think anyway, thats my inturpretation of what I've read)

A hung/stuck starter (solenoid) is a common problem. Push-starting will help diagnose it.

Some of the technial analysis on this forum have really went downhill, OP did a great job explaining te situation, obviously the starter is not clicking, first thing to check would be if the starter is even getting a signal, once you determine if the starter is getting power (check the fuse), if it is than your starter is shot.If not pop in a new fuse and you should be good to go.

wtf...I just noticed with my front end jacked and on stands even in neutral the front tires have a frontward rolling motion while the motor is running! Is that normal? I figured in neutral gear, no mechanical connection from the motor to the drivetrain should exist?

or is this how a rolling start works??

who you talking about in particular h90mgea?

If the starter itself isn't making any clicking noise than the solenoid that sends power to it to make it attempt to rotate, could be stuck. If you apply a bit of an impact to it, it will loosen the solenoid allowing it to close, feeding power to the starter? yes no?

I did this a couple time and it cranked over, but after the 3rd time the car was a no go...

Finally, I removed the starter and did brought it to AUTOZONE and they said the starter is done. So I went ahead and purchased a new starter from them with a lifetime warranty.

And problem solved! Car started right up with no hesitations!

Thank you to everyone for their input I greatly appreciate it...

So, just to clarify: Push start worked, tapping the starter to unhang it worked, so had it tested at AutoZone and it was bad. Not a blown fuse? Yep, sounds like some ****-poor technical analysis to me. Dolt.

It could have also been the "signal" wire. Its pretty uncommon for honda starters to go bad.

It's not uncommon for honda starters to go bad. They are a wear item so they go bad after time or after use.
