Default What's wrong with my bike? :( [Honda Rebel]

Hey guys,

This is my first bike and my first "issue." Hopefully someone can shed some light on my situation.

2008 Honda Rebel 250CC
7000 miles

I had the initial service done at Honda.
I did an oil change myself , I believe it was at 3k miles, I dunno. Whatever the handbook said to do it at.
I just bought some oil and new spark plugs yesterday and was planning on changing them this week.

I go out for a ride tonight, 2 miles or so, get some fuel and head home.
Leave for a friends house about 45 minutes later. The bike starts to lean out and dies every time I turn right. I'm stationary, by the way. So I decide to check the spark plug wire and push the right one down. Turn right and the bike increases the throttle a little bit. So I take it for a short ride and bring it back.

Sometimes it idled fine at a light. Sometimes it leaned out and died. Sometimes it idled a little higher.

Any ideas? haha, Ill probably take it to the dealership tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Have you adjusted your idle?

How long has it been sitting before you rode it and had problems with it stalling out? If the bike sat for awhile, your battery could be a goner.

No, never messed with the idle.

Bike never sits long. I ride it 7 days a week.

My brain isn't working for poop right now since I'm fighting off a cold, so I don't know what else to suggest. Since it's a 2008, it should be under warranty, right? Bring it back to the shop.

Once I dated a girl that put diesel in her car...that wasn't diesel. Think that could have happened?

Luckily you're under warranty so have them find out what the problem is.

Check for a pinched breather line and/or a clogged fuel filter. That's stuff is easy to check and wont cost you anything... except the cost of a filter

I took the bike to Honda today. It's actually kinda dumb, but what happened was my choke cable managed to work itself over one of the bolts for my aftermarket windshield.

That was the problem, slipped the cable off the bolt and good as new, haha.

True that. I am still under the factory warranty which expires in May. I can extend it for another 4 years for $400. I'm wondering if I should do it or not.

To be honest, I was originally planning on purchasing a 600RR this summer, buttttt since I decided to go back to school Ill probably end up keeping this Rebel a little longer than I really wanted too.

Yeah, the turning part made me think it was a cable. Glad you got it figured out.
