Icon6 92 civic... need help to figure out wiring up the IAB's on a GSR swap

okay so this is a 92 civic therefore its pre-wired for vtec... as far as i know, the only wires i need to run is for the knock sensor and the IAB's correct me if im wrong please... Its a JDM motor with a JDM OBD2 ecu that Ill be running with a ecu jumper harness... My problem is, i read that the IAB wire is pink/blue stripe but i dont see it on the GSR engine harness side... also am i suppose to run the wire to A17 or A20 since im using a JDM ecu with a USDM engine harness?

What are you using for an engine harness? '92s are indeed prewired for vtec, but only to the shock tower plugs, the engine harness still needs to have the vtec wiring added, or you can use another harness. Yes you just need to run the IAB andKS wiring, if you used a GS-R harness you will only need to run these wires from where the engine harness plugs in at the shock tower plugs to the ECU.

Normally thats what most people do, and plug the purge solenoid connector into the IAB solenoid. Only thing is you probably need the purge solenoid to pass california emissions.

Im using a gsr harness so it already has the vtec wire in it... im just adding the ks and IAB wires... im just not sure what pin to run the IAB's... for this type of swap, do i use A17 or A20? they both look like they are occupied by another wire in those slots =(

Use A17, there shouldn't be anything pinned into it unless the car was originally an automatic.

okay so motor is in, wires are ran... i think all i need is a jumper harness... so the plugs are going to go like this... Engine Harness OBD2 ---> Harness from firewall to inside the car=OBD1 ---> then a OBD1 plug to OBD2 ecu jumper harness... this should fix the problem with using the OBD2 electrical engine components right?

Generally most guys just run an OBD1 ECU. In the case of the alternator, distributor all that changed were the plugs, they are othwise identical to OBD1 units. I see that you are in california, so you may need to run an OBD2 ECU to pass bar/emissions, *If* this is the case, you will need a USDM ECU (this applies for OBD1 as well) and you will need to add the secondary O2 sensor, CKF sensor, or perform the CKF trick/fix shown here --> http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm

you will also need to use a USDM intake manifold, or convert yours to USDM specs. (this basically involves adding a purge solenoid) I've also heard that you need a USDM exhaust manifold, not sure if this is true, and what the difference between the USDM/JDM exhaust manifolds is. The evap system must be hooked up and working properly.

I see... btw thx for answering my questions... so smog isnt really an issue... so im not gonna bother with the emissions.... anyway, i just borrowed my friend's OBD1 p72 ecu and pluged it in to see if the car would start... it only cranked but no start... i couldnt hear the fuel pump prime at all... and after cranking it a few times i took of the fuel line at the fuel filter to see if i was getting any pressure and its not... any thoughts?

uh oh... im having wiring problems now... i got the fuel pump to [rime now but the car still wont start... also, im getting smoking wires! its coming from where i tapped the IAB's... must have ran it wrong... the plug had a red/blue and a black... i ran the red/blue to A17 and the black i tapped to the IACV black/yellow wire... was smoking underneath the intake manifold at the plug for the IAB... the weird thing is that even when i have the key in the ignition with the ecu unplugged im still getting smoke...

k i figured out why the wires were smoking... i think the wires i ran for the IAB's shorted out... so anyway, i disconnected them and started the car... getting 2 CEL's ... cel 6 and a cel 20... i guess the ECT sensor is bad on the motor... and cel 20 im assuming was caused due to the short out...
