Icon2 Alternator question, related to fuel pump

My daily beater has been giving me a lil trouble leaving a standing stop, it bogs for a bit then the it just perks up. Ive checked spark and replaced the fuel filter, as well as checking everything under the hood. This leads me to think its possibly the fuel pump which would bother me normally but this ia 88 civic sedan which means I need to drop the tank. But today when I was driving home I noticed that while driving the lights and heater fan sounded normal but when i let off the gas the lits dim down and the fan slows down a bit, signs that the alternator is going. Question, could this impending alternator failure also be causing my sluggish take off by not supplying the pump with enough voltage til the motor is turning some rpm?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
TIA

well... test the charging system..........
the reason why a going bad charging system would make the car sluggish is because as voltage drops also voltage feeding the injectors drop, hence leaning out mixture
