charging question
i ordered a ati dampner this week and when they sent it they sent the race dampner so this means no altenator. what are guys doing for charging system? will a optima hold a long enough charge to make a pass. all i am running is a water pump (miezner) and a fan and ecu of coarse. any suggestions onwhat to do
You have to run the alternator on a 12 volt system. You will have way to many inconsistencies with your tune up if not, ignition and fuel pump will change drastically. I have had cars spit an alternator belt within the first 100 feet of a race and by the end of the track battery voltage is down to damn near 10 in which case most electronice start freaking out. This is with running alot of stuff obviously, 2 fuel pumps, water pump etc.etc.
If the damper doesnt have a provision on it for an alternator it was probably designed for a 16 volt system.

run a alternator take it from me
i had a fluidamper with a alt underdrive, with nothing but issues, even tried to use battery offsets in the AEM and it could not keep up with the electronics falling voltage down the track.
