Sputtering issue, need some help
So I got this hatch off a buddy who put a B16 in it and then thought it had bad rings, turned out to be the injector wiring. I now have a new B16 in it and have it running, no CEL's.
The problem is after it warms up, I'll be cruising in whatever gear just light throttle or slowly accelerating it starts to cut out and sputter. I have to let off the gas and then get back on it for it to stop for a little then it just happens again. It runs fine before it warms up then does this.
Before I put the motor in the car I noticed some dirt in the cylinders, vacuumed it out and WD-40ed the cylinder walls. Did a compression test when I got it in and it was around 160-180 in all 4. Don't remember exact numbers. Anyway I'm almost positive I lost the o-ring in the center cam cap where the oil orifice is because it has no power in VTEC unless it's just warming up. I've been told without that o-ring it won't build oil pressure.
Could the sputtering be caused by that o-ring? I'm gonna try different injectors tomorrow. Also I was told the people who had the car running last, when it still had the single cam and was owned by rednecks, that it started sputtering and spitting. Sounds just like what is happening now. The fuel filter was just replaced. Could it be the fuel pump?
I don't want to drop the tank and replace it until I try everything else. Sorry for the book but I didn't want to just ask a vague question and get hated on haha.
Thanks,
Joe.
