Default car stolen busted ignition replacement

my car was stolen, *uck thieves! but i guess i got lucky because they didnt take anything at all. i wonder why. but as usual they popped my ignition and took my *hit on one of the only nights i didnt activate my alarm. the actual ignition with the harness is fine but they successufully broke the cylinder beyong repair. what i was thinking was to just take off the cycylinder from another civic and calling it a day. my question is, on a 96-00 civic do the two points that hold the ignition cylinder to a clip that keeps the cylinder body attached to the steering column just pry off or is there a right way to do it?

they're shear bolts. to remove them I belive you have to drill them out or somehow cut a slot in them and take them out with a screwdriver.

forgot to mention that the two shear bolts and the clip are still attached to my car and that the actual cylinder arm was broken

Yep they have to be drilled out. Make sure you have a powerful drill and some hard bits so it wont be a PITA.

if they made it simpler then that would be how the theives steal our cars. notch the screws with a dremel or cut off wheel and use a flat head screw driver. tap hard on the end of the screw driver with a hammer while in the slot you made. this will break it free some what.
