Timing Belt Install Problem
Well I put the belt on with the cam at tdc and the crank at tdc but after i rotate the crankshaft im always about a tooth out everytime at the cam. Ive done it probably 10 times today and im always out. Why is this ?
Stop putting it at TDC, put it one tooth off, rotate the engine (crank) two times and see if the marks all line up, you are done. Many people have trouble lining the cam up properly.
Start the engine, goose the throttle several times, if it accellerates good and quick then it is good. I was thinking you were off by one whole tooth. Half of a tooth is popular so 1/4 is good.
you can actually have it a whole tooth off and it may still seem good. but in a day or two the check engine light will come on with a fuel trim code. make sure you have the right belt, also i wouldnt use anything other than a honda belt.

For folks that have an oscilloscope and a pressure transducer there is a semi new procedure for testing the mechanical timing of the belt or chain, the ignition timing of the spark and the exhaust back pressure all in one simple capture, its too bad that this equipment is so damn expensive.
