Hey ht, i am looking for the best transmission setup (gearing wise) for my setup. I daily drive my car everyday in the summer time, so i was def thinking an ls 5th gear. I currently have a gsr (bone stock) trans in it. I do alot of thruway racing but i also race often on the dragstrip too. In 1/8th mile and 1/4.... But i do more thruway pulls 40 and up than anything...

So basically what would be the best setup for gears in my gsr transmission that will kind of suite all my needs??

Sunpro Boost gauge/Autogauge oilpresure, and water temp. (On A-piller)

(I am currently running 16psi, I hit full spool around 3500rpm. And making around 400whp)

 

for turbo, i'd say what you have is perfect..
if you need slightly more gearing. go for the 4.785 final drive.

what are your trap speeds? what speeds are you hitting when you are racing?

anything else might actually speed up your 1/4, but slow down any racing you do above 110 mph, causing you to shift into 5th and basically blow the race.

BTW, i doubt you'd like the LS 5th gear, honestly i think you'll regret it. stick with what you have. its the best alll around 5thgear
