uhh? since the sleeves would be the same in either stock block im confused. but less compression would be better.

is either one goin to be sleeved if not pretty much the same thing only reason pmtyper would be if u already had a b16 and wanted more displacement so u got a gsr bottom end. I personally have a pmtyper just becasue of the reason i listed but min is also sleeved

Won't matter on either engine when it comes to turbocharging. slight change in static compression but otherwise negligible.

The slight change in compression will limit your power creation on certain octane fuels, but overall, it will be about the same. Keep your goals in the ~300whp range and get a good tune...you'll be fine.

It really depends. On one hand, the higher compression engine is going to have better out-of-boost response and need less boost to achieve a higher hp; however, the lower compression will be able to run more boost and make more power on a certain grade fuel. There are tradeoffs, but it depends on what you're trying to achieve..

For example, i went with a 9.8:1 compression on my setup because i have access to E85 and still wanted to achieve a certain power goal. If i had wanted something in the same range (~450whp) but had access only to 93 octane, i would have chosen something in the 9:1 range and possibly a different turbo. The added compression will make the car more streetable and the fuel will allow me to still make the power i want...

A GSR would be a better build for your dollar. Type R engine's aren't exactly cheap.

what are you talking about you can pic up a full gsr bottom end and b16 head for less then 1500 and it is one of the best setups for a turbo because you get the compression from the gsr and you get great flow from the b16 head

difference between b16a and gsr heads are marginal.

combustion chamber size/shape and preferred port shape should be deciding

yea the difference in the b16 and the gsr head is like 2cfm on a flow bench
besides if doing any serious build you will rid yourself of both intake manifolds and go something aftermarket
main reason people pick b16 is because you can run the type r intake manifold on the b16head and not the gsr

I would go GSR because you have
A. Cheaper price right off the get go
B. GSR cams are great for turbo set ups if you don't want to upgrade
C. B16 or the 4.7FD ITR tranny both are a little to short for boost
Gsr tranny with either the mfactory or even an OEM lsd and you will be fine

C. 4.7 final drives are awesome for boost. Fantastic acceleration rates from just those alone.

Thats true but you also have to take into consideration his commute time/mileage/speed on the daily
and whether its even a DD or a weekend car
I know I would hate to be at 4k on the free way all the time

Don't get me wrong I love the ITR tranny but I think the GSR would suit my application better and if he is buying a full swap for boost finding a gsr motor/tranny combo would be a lot easier to find and easier on the wallet

That is pretty irrelevant considering the specs could be totalyy different. LOL
