Default Thief dislodged my hood cable.

A thief tried to break into my car this last weekend, but only got the hood popped. When I got outside the hood was popped and everything looked alright, so I shut the hood, checked out the rest of the car and went inside. On Sunday I wanted to check the engine bay in the light, so I tried to pull the hood release in the car and got nothing. I pulled the cable a few extra inches out, but then I feel resistance leading me to believe the thief dislodged the end of the cable, but didn't cut it.

So here I am, looking for help to pop my hood. If anybody has a suggestion to help me get into the engine bay, please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate any input.

depending on how fat your arms are, you should be able to reach through the front bumper grill and pop the latch. I had to do this when my cable broke. Otherwise you gonna have to jack the car up, remove the plastic shroud and get to it from there

grab the cable through the bumper grill, or check under your fender they may have tried to pull it through either.

Do you have anything special under that hood? I would be real afraid of the thief coming back if he know's you got a hot civic.

^Yeah I would be very careful... this is exactly what happened when my car was stolen, a week after hood latch was pulled car was stolen.

If you can catch the theif in the act, please shoot him/her on site... please, just make sure they are holding a screw driver or other deadly object or actually in the car.

Help stop vehicle theft and keep a good quality firearm close.

shoot him in the face. so whenever anyone sees him we'll know he tried to steal a car.

On my car my hood cable came off its bracket on the hood hinge. If I played with the under-dash lever long enough, it would eventually pop open the hood. I fixed it eventually, but i'm sure you can probably figure out what to do once you get the hood open so i'm not going to go into details.

To update, I tried reaching through the front grill, but I couldn't get my arms in far enough. I could feel the hood cable and it's really loose - I'm thinking it is definitely disconnected. I will have to jack the car up this weekend and try it. Thanks again.
