Default Need help with oil pan, now!

Dumb question...I'm about to take off my oil pan to tap it for the return line, but there are these two braces(?) that go to the transaxle...they seem to be entirely in the way of some of the pan bolts. can I take this off without having to do anything else? Will it be a prob?

Thanks in advance!

Take those two braces off and you'll have to take the flywheel/clutch cover off too.

You need a real service manual.

In my experiences... I've only removed the flywheel cover.

Use an extension if you need to for the rest of the nuts.

haha, yeah...I've got a Haynes I think some of the pics in there aren't even of Hondas Oh, well... I think I can just take off the inspection plate, but one of the braces is bolted on top of that, so it may have to go too. Will the tranny move at all with that off? Just wondering if I should wedge something under there...

i'm pretty sure your tranny will move if you take off the braces. at least mine didn't
my friends and i were way surprised when we saw that. took a little bit of tinkering, you just have to remove/replace them in the right order... i think there are 2-3 braces or so...

i hate oil pans

edit: yeah the stupid haynes manual didn't mention a thing about it

No, the tranny will not move at all. In fact, there won't be any stress on the braces at all. You've got more than 6 big bolts holding the tranny on to the engine, under most condtions those braces aren't doing anything at all.
