Default Need help enabling srs

Hey guys, I have a 94 prelude that has a code alarm in it. I don't have the remote for the alarm. I just changed my power steering pump and had to disable the srs system to do so. The steps to enable the srs say that you have to hook up the positive battery cable, then the negative battery cable, then turn on the ignition to the on position and wait for the srs light to go off. However, if I hook up both battery cables without the ignition already being turned on, my alarm goes off. I tried to look online to figure out how to disable the alarm, but didn't have any luck. Im wondering if I messed up my srs system since it didn't enable properly and need to have it fixed by a dealer, and if not, how I can enable it with the alarm problem.

Your alarm should have a fuse or two built into its wiring just pull the alarm fuse then set up your SRS then plug the alarm fuses back in or don't. If you leave the alarm fuses out your alarm is disabled.
This works as long as your alarm is only for making noise (no starter lock out).

I tried the alarm fuse trick, but it disabled my starter when I pulled the fuse.

I am guessing the engine isn't running to set up the srs.
So then we can set up the srs first then do what ya gotta do to get the alarm set up.
I am thinking you will be looking at removing the alarm sometime soon.
Which I think would just entail removing the alarm then repairing the connections.
This should be pretty straight forward because allot of alarm installers don't go to great lengths to alter the wiring.

Hey I am a Honda tech. If you SRS system was "Tripped" and the light is on, there is a way to force it off. find the MES connector. Its a yellow 2pin connector. Its shaped the same as the connector you jump to check engine codes. 1.turn off the key 2.jump the connector with a wire or paper clip. 3.turn the key to on,the srs light will turn OFF after 4 seconds, when the light is off, pull out the paper clip, the light will turn ON after 4 seconds, when the light is ON,jump the connector again within 4 seconds. The SRS light should then blink once and then turn off. Provided there are no faults in the system.
