Hello,

I have a viper alarm system. The remote is a 479v and the alarm is a
DEI 591M.

The car initially armed/locked and when I went back to the
car to disarm/unlock it nothing happened. When I press the unlock
button on the remote I hear beep-beep beep-beep. It seems that the
remote is sending out a signal but the receiver/antenna is not picking
it up? The light by the dash continually flashes red.

I used my key to get into my car and the alarm obviously went off so for the time being I disconnected the negative cable on the battery. I later tried messing around with it but I have had no luck. When I reconnect the negative cable to the battery the car alarm goes off if I get near or inside the car. I thought maybe the car was in valet mode, but I cannot follow the procedure because the alarm goes off as soon as I attempt to do it.

try unplugging and reattaching the antenna to see if that works.

 

Use the valet/program button to turn alarm off, [disarming without remote], once it is disarmed, try reprogramming the remote.

There is no Viper 591m alarm that I know of, there is a 591xv

Disarm without remote- turn ign. switch on, press and release valet/program button.

Program remote- turn ign. switch on, press and release valet/program button one time, then press and hold the button, [do not let go of button] siren will chirp and LED will flash, press lock button on remote, siren will chirp if remote programed, release button turn of ign. try remote.

If when going into program mode the siren gives a long chirp, the programing is locked and you need a "Bitwriter" to unlock it.

Now with all that said, if your remote is a 479v then your alarm should be a 791xv.

The disarm without the remote is the same although "override" can be programed to up to 5 press and release of valet/program button and there is a short delay after you press the valet/program button before alarm turns off, so I would stuff a sock into the siren so if you have to try it a few times till you get the right number of presses, you will not **** off the neighbourhood.

Programing the remote is the same except the drivers door, [any door] must be open. 94 94

I figured the problem out a couple days ago... The problem was the remove, it went defunct.

The solution was to get a new remote and reprogram the remote as stated above.
