im coming home from a friends house just a while ago,as i am entering the freeway, everything is fine, well minus the clutch pedal feeling a tad more 'softer' than usual, as i get into 5th gear i hear a styraphome (sp?) getting torn up kinda sound, then as i step on the gas, the car wouldnt move at all, i made sure i had gotten into gear correctly and i was...
i quickly pulled over, and everything was fine till i made it home just now

any ideas wtf this could be? also the clutch pedal the last few weeks, when slightly pressed feels softer than ever and then, has been popping back up violently (stock clutch) till today when this finally happened. Any ideas are well appreciated ppl.

 

Once I was very angry and shifted HARD. I pulled my car around to wash it at work 8 hours later and found my clutch fluid level nearly empty. I bled it and it was fine. Any similar situations? How many miles on the clutch? Is it possible that its done?

also the last 3 weeks or so, i will just be driving and the clutch pedal will pop down all of a sudden, only to pop back up to its normal position a couple 2nd later (without touching it)

think the clutch is finished?

i thought the pedal got harder to push the more it gets worn down so in other words the softness you are getting wouldnt make sense to needing a new clutch, but thats just my opinion. do you notice it slipping like on launches/high rpm shifts?

 

also when i clutch in and out when the car is off, i hear a kinda of a light screetching noise, kinda like wiping windows with a towel kinda thing.

 

sounds like its on its last legs
just to be sure
flush the clutch fluid and replace it with new fluid.
but it sounds dead...sorry.

 

it could be bad slave cylinder.
