im coming home from a friends house just a while ago,as i am entering the freeway, everything is fine, well minus the clutch pedal feeling a tad more 'softer' than usual, as i get into 5th gear i hear a styraphome (sp?) getting torn up kinda sound, then as i step on the gas, the car wouldnt move at all, i made sure i had gotten into gear correctly and i was...

i quickly pulled over, and everything was fine till i made it home just now

any ideas wtf this could be? also the clutch pedal the last few weeks, when slightly pressed feels softer than ever and then, has been popping back up violently (stock clutch) till today when this finally happened. Any ideas are well appreciated ppl.

have you torn the trans out if it yet to see what has heppend? That would be my first step- take a good look at the clutch fork; it might have gotten bound or bent in someway.

I'm guessing you have an R right? ok how many miles, how do you regularly drive it, When did you service the tranny last, Is your car all stock?

lets get some basics first then try to solve this.

nope

it has approx 70k miles on it....the thing is i havnt driven the car hard at all, just the occasional fun drive on the weekends....etc

fluids are all up to par

C5_ALLMOTOR, hows everything with you man? so you think the clutch is done,this is the first time this actually happened....also, when i have been driving the past 3 wks the clutch pedal will just pop down for no reason, and then the incident described above happened today !!

also when i clutch in and out when the car is off, i hear a kinda of a light screetching noise, kinda like wiping windows with a towel kinda thing.

yet it still drives normally now,wtf?

I don't know the answer to your problem, but I have something funky with my clutch too sometimes.... when I push in the clutch and then let it out, it feels like it's sticky.... it doesn't want to come back, but then it does?

Is this like what is happening to you or is it completely different?

 

EXACTLY what is happening, coupled with that 5th gear go nowhere incident that happened just yesterday, are all the symptoms its been having for the past few weeks.

also nearly 3 months ago, i took it for a rather hard drive in our local mountains, i got out of gear, then tried to get back in ANY gear it wouldnt go, i pulled over with the car on, and everytime i would try to force it in, it would jerk violently, and shut off....towed it home, and after about 2 days, i finnaly managed to 'force' it in, since then i had no problems, probably the pressure plate

anyone with any ideas on what this new problem could be?
