ecu swap now code 9 HELP ASAP!!!!
i got a 98 ej8 and swapped a p28 in place of my p2p... and now a code 9 ... according to the code list in the faq section its for the cyp sensor.... im assuming thats because the cyp on the obd 2 is on the crank gear instead of the dizzy... my question is can i swap the dizzy for an obd 1 dizzy and cure the problem and if so what dizzy would bolt up to my y8 head with little or no modification.....
ps... please dont bother being wise asses with retarded answers... or flaming... if you know please post if you really feel the urge to do so please instead kindly and properly re-route me in a kind way ... thanks

CYP sensor is still in the distributor on OBD2 models, you're thinking of the CKF sensor. The only differnce between OBD2A and OBD1 distributors is the plug(s) where they plug into the engine harness, everything else is the same. I have seen CYP/CKP/TDC sensors mysteriously die before and had the engine run fine.

Did you check the ecu plugs maybe something backed out. I had the same code 9 when i switched throttle body's. It didn't make any sense becuase i had a brand new distributor. It also only came up when my car would sit and idle so i bumped the idle back a little and went a year without the problem. Now, i just put in a set of cams and valvesprings and i unplugged the ecu to plug in a chipped one and the **** came back so I don't know what the ****. I'm still messing with it.
.................ok................... so any clues on what to do????????????? re pin the harness ,,,,,,,,,,ignore it????? but i thought that signal was imperative and without it the ecu goes into "group fire" mode and gives you a rough idle and limp mode???? i got a xact dyno obd2a to 1b harness and a virgin p28... can anyone fill me in on what to do???? im not a noob and very well so experienced with wiring.....any clues fellas??????????? on a fix for the cel that is.... as a reputable local tech i preach to customers the importance of the mil and to adhere to its warnings.... and to have an issue involving so would just be hippocritical......

sometimes the ignitor coil can overheat and cause some ignition problems that cause lag in power and sputters under load. my buddy mounted his outside of the distrib and ran fine. if u can grad another ignitor coil swap it see what happens
