Are you reffering to the ECU? if so you have to desolder the holes and solder in the new chip, but be careful if you havent done it before its very easy to burn your computer up.

If you can find solder braid it makes removal of factory components much easier.

If you have no experience find some random non working electronic and practice lil on that before try on your ecu. Also, don't buy the cheap eproms...

Most of time you can't keep reburning on them. Couple times and they toast

there isnt really any Cheap eproms.
ther is either EEPROM or EPROM
the EE (electronic erasable) is the chip that can be reused.

yes, solder braid is the shiz. Indispensible for removing solder from boards. Definitely practice first, or you will very likely burn up your ECU.

I think most people on here just buy an already socketed ECU and they get an EEPROM, or send their ecu off to get socketed by someone who really knows what they're doing. Having done a little solder work inside an ECU myself, that's what I suggest if you're not 100% confident in your soldering ability.

IMO you definitely want to solder it in as opposed to using some kind of glue. It'll hold up better to the kind of vibrations it'll get inside a car.
