how to positively identify a itr cylinder head
how would you identify a head that came off a b18c5 and not a regular b16. would it be pr3-3? or it dosent matter? im asking because id like to buy a itr cylinderhead for my b16a3 fully built, trying to get it state ref'd. i want to know what i should look for
if i remember correctly, the B16 head has studs popping out of it for the header to bolt up to where as the ITR head uses bolts to bolt up to the head (other than the outer bottom 2 i think?)
look for green paint markings around the dizzy area as well.

PR3 is the head ID #. The folowing number, either 1 - 4, is from what casting it came from. I've seen ITR heads have every number, 1 - 4, and many different b16 years have different #'s following the ID.
I like the green paint method the best if it has it.

They are the same head from the same cast . The ITR has better LMA's and valvetrain and slight port and polish from the factory.
the lma's are the same on 99-00 si's
and its not a polish, more like a blending, stock for stock its better, but when you upgrade your valvetrain and get a valvejob the heads are nearly identical

Take the 1 retainer a off on the exhaust side then you will know.
To be exact, the type r head and the b16 head are the same exact casting! There was no port and polish done to type r heads! The valve seats were smoothen about an inch up into the combustion chamber along with stronger valve springs on both sides, intake and exhaust.
Like a few others already stated, minor upgrades and there is no difference...
