Default Gsr Tuning Opinions

okay well i have a 2000 gsr with i/h/e blox intake manifold, and ctr cams with ctr valvetrain. i was wondering what kind of tune you guys think i should get. right nowi have a VAFC but i plan on getting rid of it. should i get a chipped p28 and tune on a real dyno, or get a street tune for a lot cheaper. what do you guys think since this isnt a big setup, thanks!

dyno tune is a much better idea as far as tuning goes as well as safer. i have a chipped p28 with chrome pro and it works good for me

I would have to disagree when you say a dyno tune is much better because it's safer. Typically, a street tune will be safer than a dyno tune. A lot of times you can get tuned on the dyno and if the dyno load isn't adjusted properly, the car will detonate on the streets.

OP, if you want max power and the ability to fine tune a lot of variables, go with the dyno tune but make sure you go for a drive with the tuner after the fact to make sure it's still drivable. If you're just looking to get the car running right and safe, a street tune will be fine.

But just remember, in the end of the day it all really comes down to how good your tuner is so make sure it's someone you trust with plenty of experience.

i was refering to safer by means of not doing 120mph down the street thats y my street tune is only on 6lbs it got way to fast for that on only 6lbs

i'm trying to remember what the p72 does at iab opening? does the timing blip or is it just air fuel? if it's just fuel you should be able to tune with what you have. if it's a timing issue the p28 with something cheap like chrome would be really useful if you want to spend the time to learn how to alter your maps and buy a wideband. or i suppose you could just drop $200-300 on tuning and dyno time and have the shop do it once you get the ecu
