The Pros for a B16A with the gsr Transmission.OR should i trade the engine for a d-series PLUS a 240sx Coupe w/KA24 Engine!? (THATs only if the guy still want s the B16 w/broken tranny).

GSR has shorter gears than the Si. I'm at 3k on the HWY with my GSR trans.

Order of trannys from longest gears (best for putting around) to shortest (best for the whole racing thing) for Bseries motors.

Ls
Si
GSR
ITR

I thought that the b16 tranny had shorter gears then the gsr but that doesn't matter. I don't think you'll notice any gains or loss by going to the gsr tranny.

So wrong. The em1 has the same gearing as the ITR, with a longer final drive.
GSR gears are looonger. In fact, 1st and 2nd is the SAME as LS.
That being said, the transmission is BAD for your 1.6L. Acceleration from a stop will seem like an eternity, you'll burn more gas mashing the pedal full open throttle to go faster. You will save on the highway, but you would have much better luck swapping on an LS 5th gear set (hydro only, not cable) into your current transmission and calling it a day. That has been covered many times - except you cant search for it anymore because vbulletin search is for **** (google it)
SOO, dont waste your money on the gsr trans....600 is too high anyway (I paid 300 for mine)

oh.....and rpm has nothing to do with transmission gearing

Yeah, I think you're wrong. My B18C1 with Si tranny cruises at 4200rpm at 80mph, and 4000 at 75. The Si tranny is shorter than the gsr.
