What causes torque steer?
Peeps,
my EG with B18B1 has mad torque steer: when I drive on the hwy & d-shift from 5th to 3rd the car pulls to the left. When I'm upshifting the car momentarily pulls to the right & when I step on it again, it pulls to the left. When cruising & letting go off the steering wheel the car slightly pulls to the left, very slightly... Is that what's causing that bad torque steer? Can rear wheels alighnment cause the torque steer?
Thanx for any input!
Yuri

It sounds like you might need an alignment. Get that done and see if it doesn't fix your problem.
Torque steer can be caused by many different things, but it is usually caused by unequal length half-shafts. Switching your soft OEM control arm bushings to firmer bushings can help reduce torque steer, but it won't eliminate it entirely.
Here is a good article on FWD chassis dynamics that has a small explanation of torque steer. http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ic/ic20236.htm

It could also be either a worn engine mount or worn wishbone bushings, this happened on my civic beater, it would pull to the right on acceleration and then drift to the left on lift off, i brought it to a shop and they swore it was a worn engine mount, but they were all fine so they check the suspension and the drivers side inner wishbone bushing was toast, so replaced it and the car drives perfectly
can't be in my case: I have pretty new poly bushings everywhere but on the rear compensator arms (on the left rear compensator arm i CAN NOT remove the bolt). Engine sits on 2 poly bushings: A/C side & front tranny...
Makes me believe that my rear susp. alignment is off BADLY... Gotta rip that compensator arm off & replace it with new bushings + weld back on the nut pocket...
Thanx for the help, fellows...
