Default rsx type s subwoofer???

My friend has a '02 type s with the BOSE system and subwoofer in the spare tire. I was listening to his stereo and that subwoofer is really low. The base sucks. We thought the woofer wasn't sorking so we checked it in the trunk and it seem to be powered up. Is this woofer just a gimmick thing cause my stock gsr stereo sounds more basey than his rsx? Anyone noticed this problem?

The sub is really crappy. only the first couple thousand RSX's had the sub wired wrong. I tried fixing it on mine but it was already wired right and I got mine back in april.

Keep in mind the thing is not a sub-woofer, it is just a powered woofer. Those are 2 different things. It acutally works pretty well if you have the thing wired per the TSB and listen to music with normal levels of bass in it. Never meant to be a thumper.

everyone has complained about the woofer. apparently it's a PoS. oh well, i didn't expect much anyways. if you want quality, you gotta go aftermarket, that's with performance parts/suspension/audio, and basically everything else.

it's the yellow and purple wires that are crossed in the harness, switch them and it'll sound alot better. not too much better cuz it's only a 4 1/2 inch woofer but you'll notice the difference. oh by the way you want to use a needle to get the wires out of the harness be careful it's easy to mess up. if you don't feel comfortable i'm pretty sure the dealership will fix it cuz they had a memo about cars with vin#'s 4000xxxx and below. hope that helped.
